In 2021, Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition celebrated 10 years of conserving Greater Sandhill Cranes in Northwest Colorado and beyond. This exciting year was met with challenges from the pandemic, forcing some of our traditional education programs to be virtual instead of in-person. But we developed new methods of educating the public about cranes and worked to engage more with science to better understand this iconic species and how we can best conserve them.
Having an in-person Yampa Valley Crane Festival was a daunting task during the pandemic. But we were excited to hold an in-person, safe, 10th annual Yampa Valley Crane Festival! The festival featured all the favorite crane-viewings, bird walks, and expert speakers as in past years. We continued to have our children and family activities that saw more children than in years past! We are looking forward to next year’s 11th annual Yampa Valley Crane Festival.
